Officers too blatant to ask for a bribe

To share my story i applied for passport and as per the process when the inquiry came one has to be present at the police station for verification purpose. I was initially welcomed with a warm smile and a friendly talk but at nearly the end of the conversation the officer blatantly asked for a bribe (hamara khayal rakho).. and i had to shell out the money as i was too afraid to cross question and was unaware of how to report such incidents.
