A friend and I were driving out of Udyog Vihar near the Trident Hotel and happened to end up going the wrong direction on a one-way that was insufficiently marked as such. (Among the clutter of Indian streets, who will notice a small dirty sign?) The traffic cop has the right to take away your license and force you to waste a day in court, and he asked for Rs. 100 as a way out of that. My friend is an honest sort but hardworking and with little time to spare, so he paid up.
