Paid 100 Rs to get a Police Lost Acknowledgement Receipt
- Police
- Traffic Violations
- Paid INR 100
I lost my Wallet yesterday in Rammurthy Nagar containing my original DL. In order to re-issue a new one from the RTO we need to submit a Acknowledgement Receipt from the Police regarding it loss. I had read in a blog on how to tackle the process on the Re-issue of a new licence and the person mentioned you have to pay Rs.100 to the Station House Officer (SHO) who writes the acknowledgement for the same. Even though that blog mentioned some other police station, now my belief is that its the same everywhere in Bangalore. I provided my complaint with all minute details about the lost wallet and even colored copy of the DL. Then the SHO tried to speak on procedure that you need a affidavit before getting the acknowledgement and all lots of loose talk. With much hesitation he wrote the acknowledgement but refused to give me the same giving me the affidativit excuse. Finally i asked him how much do you need and he said in a whisper Rs.100 in kannada. Saddend expecting the negate the words of the blog, paid in a instant that amount and walked away with the Receipt. Maybe if we can get this process of such Acknowledgements in the same manner as the Online Tax Returns, we would reduce such unhealthy practises of give and take. Similar Online activities on the Issuing/Re-Issue of DL and others setting it up online would curb such follies from all individuals.
