Paid 200 rs for mp registered bike

I am a college student and I will stay in Tamil nadu for only 2 more years.
Recently I father bought a bike in Madhya Pradesh and as I needed it he gave it to me ,so that I can use it in Chennai. I don't have the noc certificate for my bike as I am going to stay for only 2 years .And also , people have told me that it is legal to drive a vehicle not registered locally. I may be wrong about the rules but I was called off road and asked for my licence, bike registration, insurance ,and NOC certificate as I had everything apart from the NOC I was asked to give Rs 200 for it .
