We have applied for re-issue of passport for me and my husband and for fresh passport of our new born child.
In my husband's case police official called him up and asked him to come for police verification at food joint which is around 2-3 km away from our home (didn't come at home) and asked him to pay chai-pani of Rs. 1500 but my husband refused to pay that much amount as this is equivalent to the passport fees. The police wala said that" usko upar b dena padta hai" ishliye wo kuch nai kar sakta. after repeated negotiations he said, " wo apna share kaat b de to be Rs800 bante hai us se niche kuch b nai agar nai hai to koi baat nai wo dekh lenge" than they settled for Rs.700. One week later, someone from intelligence department came home and again verified my husband's document and asked Rs. 700 as kharcha-pani and settled for Rs.500. when my husband said that he has already paid money to police wale, then the intelligence guys said " wo unka hisab tha" mera kharcha pani to do" and angrily said that "police walo ko Rs 500 se jada mat diya karo ye parcha hamare pass he aata hai" My husband got his passport in 45 days.
In my case, the police official came home on 19th December 2013 and asked me to fill up the verification form and asked for photo copies of all the original documents for verification and also asked me to fill up the same police verification form for my minor child. I said, as per passport official and the information provided on passport office website, no police verification is required if either of parents have valid passport and it will be deliver in one week but he said he will do police verification of minor child also. I did not have photo copies of all the documents, then he said he will come in the evening till than arrange your documents. He did not come again on that day. Next morning, i called him up and he came home in afternoon. At the same time, I received my baby's passport from courier guy. Even than, the police official was adamant for police verification of my child. I said, i just received my baby's passport in front of you than why there is a need of police verification. He did not answer my question and asked for kharch-pani of Rs. 1200 for both of us. I said i only have Rs. 300 then he got angry and said koi baat ni and put crossed mark on my police verification form and also asked me to write on my baby's police verification form that " I do not want to do police verification of my child". I said, i will write what is written/informed to me by passport officials and on their web site. He said, no need to write story, just write in Hindi that you do not want to do police verification of your minor child. I said no, and write what i wanted to write there, then he deliberately snatched that form from me and about to move. He asked me to pay Rs. 800 as he came home for two times for verification. I told him that, i have only Rs. 700. He took that money and left. Till now my passport status is showing "Pending physical police verification.
