Bribe was paid to get my check cleared. I had to put the story in transcript section as there are no options for this. Head was very openly corrupt and possibly everyone in the dept. knew that he was corrupt. A check issued to me by GOVT was blocked by his signature. He waited for 2 months until it dawned on me that there is something more than procedural delays. While he could cooly remove cash from my payment, one other faculty came in the room and asked for his cut. I was appalled. Last year, I was asked for bribe by traffic policemen almost 7 times and I did not pay a rupee. I was very proud of it. However I was helpless in this situation. Expecting GOVT to make processes transparent will be a stupid idea when its cabinet ministers are neck deep in bribery cases. Even God cant save this country.
