Paid Bribe without any valid reason

Reported on March 17, 2011 from Thane , Maharashtra  ι Report #26020

I was going to stay with my friends for Examination duration to study in Belapur. Since I had to ********** some1 in Mumbra that day, I travelled there. Just as I was exiting Mumbra Station, a policeman stopped me raising suspicion on my suitcase for carrying bomb. I fully co-operated with them. I was getting late & I had to collect my Admit-card even that day itself.
After finding nothing suspicious, he asked me to pay a some amount. I declined as I was not at wrong. Then he started making up things. He found a games CD which he claimed was "shexhy CD". After being told what it was, he suggested that the Hard Disk in my suitcase was suspect. On showing my purchase bill, he turned towards a deo-perfume bottle in my suitcase (It was well kept). He almost emptied the content on ground & lit fire to it (which lasted for 5-6 seconds). His idea was that this way I could have burned the train.
Ironically, just 15 metres away, hawkers were selling self-filled similar packs. All my efforts to explain the situation (I being a student, getting late for college etc.) fell on deaf ears. He wanted money. My efforts to show him my college ID, Indian-Navy-dependent card (Even suitcase had "Indian-Navy" imprinted on it) didn't moved him. That day I realised, if my father would have served in Indian Police force rather than in Indian Armed Force, we would have been rich, quite rich.
I showed him 300/- cash I was carrying. He showed his MERCY, & took only half (250/-) of what he had initially asked (500/-)
