Paid more than my one day salary as bribe
Had applied for a domestic gas connection around 5 months back. got an intimation letter a month back. letter read that am suposed to go there with fot id and addres proof. but wen i go there i was told then that there will be an inspection, for wich i paid 250rs and got reciept. the guy who came for inspection got 350Rs bribe and spelt 'used' as 'YOUSED' on the reciept...then early today morning, wen i thought it was all done, they tell me am supposed to pay a bribe of 250rs to get an affidavit for not having a ration card, which i was not informed till today morning....where am i supposed to know all these finicky procedures of inspection and affidavits...but got done with it after awaiting in the Queue for around 3.5 hours...i think its the lack of awareness of rules that leads to bribe..had i known that i am suposd to carry a affidavit, i wouldnt hav paid for them to get the affidavit...the bribery system in my case - works because of lack of awareness among mass (most of them lack education), how do you tell them what are the rules and regulations, to avail a certain facility...??
