My story took place in Thana Zirakpur where I was summoned to submit my report for police verification. Usually, the police is supposed to visit your home. But the concerned person was too busy. He handed me a written report and asked me to go back home and get signatures of two neighbours, and also bring relevant documents. He told me my documents were shaky, which made me anxious.
Later, he blatantly asked me for 'fees' and refused to take anything less than a 1000 Rs. for two passports. I was shaken by having to run around getting papers in order, and was actually pleased to pay to make sure he sent off my report without any hitch.
