Paid Rs.300 for passport verification.

Reported on March 9, 2011 from Pune , Maharashtra  ι Report #27106

I had applied for the passport and as part of address verification the policeman visited my residence 2 times. Being a weekday I was at office and hence could not ********** the policeman, so third time the policeman told my uncle to send me to police station for the verification formalities. I went to the police station and found this policeman. He took me out of the police station and started saying like 'you are busy man, I visited your house so many times blah blah blah'. This being the first time for me talking with a poilceman, I was little nervous. Then he asked me to pay money to get the verification done. I asked how much do I need to pay? and he asked how much I have. He took Rs. 300 from me and then cleared the verification.
I am in USA from last 6 years and dealing with government offices is usually a pleasant experience. Not that I am praising the systems here, but the systems in our country definitely need a lot of improvement.
