I have paid the bribe to the person in-charge during the night shift on Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Sankara Matam to stay overnight. We were 12people and came to visit the Tirumala Devastanam. As it was after Christmas and before New year (27th November), we though it is not rush hour, but unfortunately it was. We tried getting a room by going to all different rest houses to get the rooms but we reached late around 7pm so they were closed. We have no other option than to ask the favor of only person who has rooms available with low bribe (In Nandakam guest house, he was asking for 6K for single room) as all of them were around 55-65 age. We finally got a deal of 2k bribe apart from the room rent of 800 each for 2rooms. So, it was 11pm or 12am by the time we got the room and we had to return back on 28th. So we paid bribe of 2k to that person for just 2 single rooms for a single night.
I don't justify my actions of paying the bribe, my suggestion was to sleep in the bus we came, but because of the old people, I couldn't stand up and make my voice heard over theirs.
The simple solution to tackle this is, while going up to Tirumala, if there is no vacancy of rooms, dont allow people who want to stay. Put all the availability charts and bookings down in Tirupathi.
