A passport to passport

- Police Verification for Passport
- Paid INR 500
What I am going to tell is not a new story. It must have been experienced by all those needy passport seekers. As part of the process the system demands a police constable to cross-check the references and address mentioned in the application form by calling the former and visiting the latter. One day I received a call from a constable to visit him instead prior to reporting to the main police station. To my astonishment he was trying to convince me that how he had made things easy for me by not following his duty (as if I was an absconding convict and had furnished wrong details) and directly passing my application, of course in exchange of a few notes. He had the audacity to directly quote his price which he had fixed at Rs. 500. Though the amount was not much what took me aback was how I had to pay for him not following his duty. I did pay lest he create unnecessary problems in the process.
