Passport Police Verification

Reported on August 22, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #30959

This is not new. You go to anywhere in India you will have to pay a bribe (between 100 and 1000) to get the Police verification done. After applying for Passport for my Wife and Kid, I kept waiting for the Police verification to be done for atleast 3-4 weeks. On Passport Site, the status of my application was updated to 'sent for Police verification' but no Police person even contacted me. Then I had to personally go to Police station and pay Rs 200 to move my file for processing. And to my surprise, after I paid the bribe, the report was sent within couple of days to Passport office. The biggest problem I see in our Govt system is that no one takes accountability. No one would have asked the Police Station why have you taken more than a month to do the verification. That's where Govt official take the advantage. They clearly say if you want your work to be done on time then pay money otherwise keep suffering.
