I had applied for passport and it was the police verification personnel hat had come to my place.

after verifying all the documents, he asked for 2000, as the convenience charges! after a straight question of why..?? the answer was 'do u want a red marking on your papers which will diminish any of your chances to get a passport.??'

after much bargaining, the thing was settled at 1400 in which the breakup as told was
500 - the main officer
200 each to 3 middle level officers
n 100 each to 3 head constables.
