I had bought an LCD TV from Oman which amounted to Rs. 21,500 (Valid Bill); lesser than the allowed Rs. 25,000 limit exempted from Duty. however, the custom official start arguing over the price and started giving various excuses. Finally he asked me to pay some money or he will levy a fine of Rs. 6500.
After agreeing at Rs. 1500 (only money left with me after keeping aside Rs. 500 for taxi), he asked me to purchase 2 bottles of liquor from the duty free shop just beside the customs gate. Then I was allowed to pass and led into a separate room on the way to exit, where a havaldar took those two bottles.
