Paying bribe to get enrolled in college despite passing entrance exam

I passed entrance exam for MBBS legitimately and atteded counselling at Medical College and whilst having papers checked by clerks, they informed me that my domicile certificate was not correct as it says bonafide as single word where as requirement is to have it seperate as bona fide. I was asked to come back with coorect Punjab domicile certificate week later, which we did to be only informed that I failed to submit my application on said ********** week ago and hence my seat is forfieted, but was told that if we are willing to pay 20,000 INR, they will overlook all this. The amount was negotiated to 10,000 INR after the Professor in charge informed my dad that it is the easiest way rather than going through court, as he can make his son's college life very long and hard but if he paid money, he will ensure that nothing happens...unfortunately I only found out about bribe after I passed college as my dad never wanted me to know this and feel upset or even feel embbarassed or get complacent about the studies..... unbelievable... despite having passed entrance test legitimately, my family had to pay bribe for what was supposed to be simple straight forward thing....
