Police at their best

Reported on September 27, 2012 from New Delhi , Delhi  ι Report #788

I was travelling from Amritsar to Ujjain via New Delhi. At the amritsar golden temple, i purchased a sword as a show-piece. When I reached nizamuddin station, my bag was security scanned. As expected, the scan showed the presence of a sword. the police fellow told me : "you cant take this sword with you. You will have to pay up Rs.100 if you have to take it with you to Ujjain." I said NO and told him that I will keep it with my friend in delhi. the policeman then told me that in any case to pay 100 else he will keep the sword. I agreed to that as well and told him to keep it. he then told me that I will have to pay a fine of 5000 rupess on the spot to even move out of there. Else, he will keep me there and make sure that I miss my train.
I finally had to agree to the Rs 100 BRIBE to take my sword forward. to this day, the sword reminds me of the bribe that I had to pay.
