My passport is 9 year old now. So this bribing incidence I am reporting is too that old. Me and my father visited the police station of our area for passports police verification as for many days there was no policemen visiting our place as is the process for verification. The policemen without bothering to check my background straightaway asked for some bribe. He was happy with 50 Rs which were good enough in those days. Few months later my brother in law had applied for a passport. The police man visited his home for verification in December and asked for "Diwali" - one which was in Nov that year. He also started raising objections on some or the other document proofs and their authenticity, just to get more bribe. That guy only settled for a 100 Rs. Thats 150 Rs for 2 passport - police verifications some 10 years back. I am sure the situation is same now only the bribes must have gone higher..
