Power of Attorney

Reported on February 13, 2011 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #28605

I am a UK resident and had bought a property in Madipakkam. Since I was on a short visit I wanted to give the 'Power' to deal with the propetry to my father. The lawyer who did the paper work is my neighbour and a good friend of ours. . The registration was the flithiest office you could have walked into to and the employees were least helpful. We went to the registrar and as soon as he saw our lawyer the attitude changed, he was very cordial and at the end of transaction came upto to my lawyer and said please I will give you a concession on my fees, please pay me Rs 500 only /-. What shocked me was due to shortage of stamp papers we paid 1.5 times the actual value of the stamp paper to the stamp paper vendor. It was money everywhere and there was absoultely no respect to people. I saw that the other people who were waiting the office had the same experience and whole office was completely corrupt. It was a shame as Britian had moved our and had significant changes to the administartion and we were still hanging on to the British legacy and were abusing it to few people's benefits.....Why should one register the building if the whole process is only to collect bribe.
