I m Edwin Pascal from canada. Recently my wife needed a police vrification certificate in order to apply for her visa. When she approched the SP office in karaikal, UT of Pondicherry along with my father, the head constable who was responsible to receive the application and forward to the concerned departements asked for a bribe of 3000 rupees just to receive. Eventhough i said to my father not to pay the bribe, they were forced to pay as he was not ready to even take the application. And after that it took 4 days to get the certificate. But When my wife did the same application in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, she was asked just to pay a fee of 1000 rs in the bank and the certificate was issued in 2 days. I am ready to pay a fee and generate revenue for the government but not to an official as bribe.
