Sales Tax dept usually forces traders to pay a certain amount at the time of annual assessment.I refused to pay the first time and this led to lots of harassment at the hands of sales tax officer.That really led to to avoiding these people for 3 consecutive years.Meanwhile they did not send any assessment notice and my refusal to bribe them provoked them to the extent that they sent a recovery notice totaling about 1,50,000 Rs under the seal of Deputy collector.I was threatened that unless i fall i fall in line the aforesaid amount will be recovered and if i fail to pay the premises may be locked.They even threatened arrest.Finally after paying the "charges" amounting to 25000 Rs i was let off
