The permanent electric line to my house was damaged and needed to be replaced. By the stupid rules in this country, just because my house is on the other side of the road from where the power lines run, I had to pay a HUGE bribe just to get the permission. Though the electrical engineer we hired said he paid 30K bribe and 20 K fee, we did not get a single paper from BBMP, its just the assurance that they will not interfere in the work when it happens. So the entire 50k went as BRIBE! how disgusting is that. No wonder we see so many "temporary" electric lines. How can everyone afford to pay this kind of a RANSOM! In addition to this, another 5 k for the circle inspector to avoid disruption in work. SHAME on BBMP and the entire system and the Karnataka govt for not doing anything to root out corruption.
