We are into a mechanical workshop related business . We have to bring down machinery at times from Mumabai. We had recently purchased a Milling Machine used one. We road frieghted it to Trichur from there. The frieght was stopped @ Manjeswaram check post by sales tax officials because according to the system we were no authorised to bring in machinery . I travelled 500 kms to n fro to show them the certificate which shows we can bring in machinery . But then they said the system wont allow. I was against giving bribes . But my manager convinced me if I don pay it the machine will end up lying down in the rain n sun . I ll end up losing 5 lakhs for the Rs 2000 that the young officer demanded. After paying Rs 2000 they could by pass the system ;-). I had a severe guilt in me. I supported it for my selfish reason.
