My dad was a true son of a Gandhian, never taken any bribe. Leave aside bribes, he didn't even accept sweet boxes during Diwali.

When time came for me to do all the paperwork post his passing away, i experienced this situation.

Every time i visited to collect the death certificate, the printers would have problems, there would be no paper, etc. First, i held off paying any bribes and they made me run to different offices for getting different signatures.

Finally, someone "educated" me that things will work out fine if i give 'speed money'. i paid and the work got done in matter minutes.

Till this day it disturbs me that i had to bribe to get death certificate of someone who never even take simple gifts through out on his life.
