Standard Rate "Facilitation fee "at Income tax Office !

Expectation if you go direct to get a Refund : 5 % to the chaps at the Office. Quite open and clear about it.
Rate via your CA : 10 % at least, since the CA also has to make something for his efforts !!
The Government encourages it by :
a) NOT sending any intimation to the Tax Payer as top why his refund is pending.
b) NOT penalising the ITO for not issuing refunds in a Time Bound Fashion
c) NOT paying via ECS, even when the Tax Payer has specifically asked for it
If you don't pay, all you will get is absent officers, files, TDS not showing on the ITO's intranet, even if you have Form 16 AS with you , "busy clerks" chatting and having tea.
If you do pay, you get a seat, quick actions and, if you are lucky, even a cup of tea ! You may even be called on your Cell when your refund advise has been sent to Central Processing Office, Bangalore.
Frankly, over several years I have found better to pay 5 % by dealing direct.
So pay up and be happy !!
