My father passed away of a heart attack suddenly. I and my brother went to the municipal offices for getting his death certificate promptly (as was practicable) as the DC was essential for every other follow up action that needed to be taken (such as provident fun money transfer, bank account transfer etc.). Initially, they kept us moving from one desk to another, later told us to come at later times. Finally, we offered a completely different person if he could help us with prompt issue of the DC and offered him some money (in tactful terms) - and lo and behold, the next day we did have the DC in our hands.
