Verification for a home maker

We got a call from the SSP office claiming that he is a subinspector cadre. He wants us to visit the local SSP office at the specified time as there is a shortage of personel. Hence we have to visit the office with the proof that we are living at our current address along with the signatures of the references we mentioned while applying the passport. Few days back some one from the local police thane visited and insisted for Chai/paani and it is equivelent to a Seven star hotel bill.
