My brother was asked to pay a bribe of Rs 500/- for his passport verification by the police department official in the name of "kharcha paani". He resisted it by not paying anything to the government servant. As a result of it, passport department didn't receive any proper verification report as expected. After 2 months my father went to that police station and paid Rs 300/-. The officer on duty kept the money without any shame but still didn't do anything to send proper verification report to passport office. After 4-5 months my brother went to Regional Passport office and inquired about his passport and met one higher official. The official asked one lady to find the records. The passport application was lying there. Then the official asked the concerned person that why it is lying here for so long. There was no answer to it. The official then forwarded the application for verification. After 1 month 1 policelady came and asked for money for verification. This time he paid Rs 300/-. After 3-4 months he got his passport.
