Read this interesting report where an NRI was forced to pay Rs.100 to a guard of an ATM for withdrawing money. The respondent when visited Auroville, an international town near Pondicherry, went to an ATM to withdraw money. As soon as he withdrew the money, the guard of the ATM demanded money from him. The person with no other choice had to pay the money.

To know about similar experiences of our readers, we asked a question, “Have you paid a bribe to withdraw money from an ATM?” The results of the poll show that 81 per cent of the voters were lucky who did not have to pay a bribe for using ATM. However 14 per cent of the people had to pay bribe to withdraw money and another 3 percent of voters know someone who paid money for using ATM. While only 1 percent of the voters resisted paying a bribe for using an ATM.
