I was in Janpath market and had to drive to Hauz Khas village. I took a U-turn on the outer circle of Connaught Place, which is not allowed and a sign there said so. I had not seen the sign before making the turn.
As soon as I made the turn, I saw that two cops were standing on the other side of the road on a bike. One of them pulled me over. He asked for my license, but none of the other papers. He pointed out the sign to me and said that it's a Rs. 500 challan and that I will have to go to the court. He also said that there is a lot of videography in the area and there is no choice than to go to court.
I said that is fine. He told me that I look like a good person and should pay him Rs. 300 and leave. I did that.
His tone however was extortionate as he was unwilling to give me the Rs. 500 challan and wanted the Rs. 300 bribe instead.
