My host brother had to verifying his passport, but it has already been a month, and the police department at our district still did not send his passport information to the right agency (the one that is supposed to deal with citizens' passports). Finally the policeman in charge demanded a INR 500 rupee bribe. He even said that he wanted to take his family our for dinner tonight, so he needs some money. After negotiating with my host brother's mom, the bribe was reduced to INR 200. I paid the bribe since my host brother did not have any cash with him at first. I just feel the whole thing is a little bit ludicrous.
