For one Electronic Item needed to pay $55

• Customs, Excise and Service Tax
• Customs Check and Clearance
• Paid INR 2,500

I bought a digital camera ($99) for my sister from USA. It was a gift so I did not open it and came to India. Customs told me that show the bill.

I show the bill, then they say this is costly camera as per india and you will have to pay $55 for custom charge.

I said rule is you can go with 25,000 INR of electronic items without any tax.

They say pay or leave without camera.

finally I paid.
