New Delhi, July 31 (IANS) The CBI on Tuesday arrested a Delhi Police Station House Officer (SHO) and a city-based advocate in an alleged Rs 2 lakh bribery case in which they were booked along with realty firm Unitech Ltd, its owner and five other private persons, the agency said.

Neeraj Kumar, who is posted as an SHO in south Delhi's Saket police station, was arrested along with advocate Neeraj Walia during a raid conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at various locations in Delhi, comprising residential and official premises of accused persons.

The CBI's move comes hours after it filed a bribery case against Unitech Group founder Ramesh Chandra, his son Ajay Chandra -- brother of Sanjay Chandra, who is already accused in 2G scam -- SHO Kumar, advocate Walia and three others named as Upma Chandra, Seema Manga and Pradeep Kumar. The investigating agency also named Unitech in its FIR.

A CBI official said that the SHO had promised to settle several cases against Unitech registered at Saket police station.

"It is alleged that the accused in conspiracy with each other were involved in demand, provision and acceptance of illegal gratification. It is also alleged that the issue was to show undue favour for settlement of cases registered against directors/owners of Unitech. The CBI laid a trap and caught the SHO, Saket, Delhi Police and the advocate while transacting the bribe of Rs 2 lakh," said a CBI statement.

Searches are being conducted today at various locations in Delhi at the residential and official premises of accused persons, it said.
