Demand Bribe to undervalue duty amount

Reported on September 29, 2016 from Hyderabad , Telangana  ι Report #125650

I brought 60" TV from Malaysia on 5th August. When approached the Customs Officer to assess the duty amount, initially he said total duty amount is arriving Rs.31500/-, however by taking risk will be reduced to Rs.20000/- if bribed Rs.7000/-. I rejected Customs Officer offer and requested to assess based on Invoice Value. To my surprise, in the demand notice, no way mentioned what is Invoice value in Foreign currency and what is exchange rate applied and what is % duty and what is actual duty amount. Due to lack of these details Customs authorities are managed to manipulate duty amount and taking Bribes. My sincere request please introduce Invoice details in Foreign currency, exchange rate and duty amount assessed to avoid manipulation by Customs authorities. Customs officers openly bargaining with passengers and many passengers are willing to pay
