Refused to Pay Bribe for B-Khata
When an official from the BBMP office came to our apartment and promised to issue a B-Khata if we pay him a bribe of Rs.3000 for each flat. The original prescribed fee is Rs.100 only. A group of residents decided not to pay even while others decided to pay the bribe to get the work done. We were constantly ignored, asked to come back again and again, forced to pay the bribe, threatened to face consequences if we do not pay etc, but we stood our stand. Finally the person budged and issued the B Khata and we paid only the government prescribed fee of Rs.100. What was surprising is that when we handed over the fee to the official, he refused to receive it by his hand instead asked us to keep it on the table and leave - He only receives bribe with his hand it seems!!
