I have a license which was made in Kanpur(UP) , which is due for renewal in the next 1 week.
I have made 2 trips to the RTO offices only to be sent back with the list of forms and documents inspite of the fact that I am carrying all of them.
Upon talking to another gentleman(a customer) who had come down for the same purpose, we were explained that we have to have our old license in the national registry DB , as a first step.
To add the old license in the DB requires Senior Inspectors approval which was not given when I went to him, was directed to go to the home RTO for this process. Imagine my situation where I have taken off from work for 2 days to run through this process.
After so much of running around and enquiring(emotely) at the home RTO, I concluded that we may have to take agent services for an online process which is suppose to cut across all ambiguity. But I was wrong. Hence approached a driving school and gave money to get things done.
Why is this process not in black and white even on the Govt website ? Is the question that is still haunting me . Is this change to make things online a gimmick by our respected government ?
