IEC code without bribe
A few years ago my company needed a IEC code to be issued. For this I had to visit the Customs office near Swargate. As with any govt work, none of the information was made available at one place or one time, hence I had to go there 3-4 times to get the application in order. On the one of the visits I asked the official there is I need to pay any additional(!) fees so that my applicaion will be accepted and processed?
To this the official answered that a clear no and that the application would be processed when all the attachments were done and filed duly.
And surprise - we did get the IEC code in a weeks time!
It was slow and at times testing patience, but never did anyone there indicate they needed any bribe!
