I am a British person who was working in India. I employed 450 local workers and only 3 expatriates. When I arrived one of the existing expatriates had been stealing money from the company, beating his local workers, and behaving very badly with local women. He made his local workers falsify receipts and they shared the profit in this company theft activity. I tried to stop it. And this person bribed a police official to have me arrested on false charges! He did not like me stopping his corrupt and inappropriate behaviour. I had to pay a bribe in order to be allowed to run for the airport and leave. It was very traumatic that this person 'won' because he had been bribing the police official for a long time and therefore me doing the right thing had no standing.
