I had to pay 50 laks and agree to pay 10 laks each year to a politician for a job in custom and excise department. I have to recoup this amount. I work in the excise department with a team of 5 others who have paid similar amount.
Everyone knows that the rich and profitable companies do not pay full custom duty due to the Government. We send a notice to what is due legally. If they pay the full duty they will not be able to run the company successfully or go bankrupt. We call a meeting with a financial directors of the company and renegotiate the duty. They pay reduced amount to the government and a percentage to us. We distribute the percentage among our staff and out of which we pay a percentage to the politicians - our sponsors. This keeps everyone happy. Companies continue to run successfully, politicians can continue to rule our country and I have my job. I spend money on goods and that keeps other in the job. I do not see any problem with my moral values. This happens in every part of the world. So stop complaining and enjoy your short lived life.
