My delhi driving license expired. I now live in Mumbai and have my permanent home in Kolkata. Upon inquiry, I was told that it is easier to get a new license than to renew a license in a different state.
It was extremely difficult to get the address proofs required in Mumbai since I live in a rental and do not have any of the utilities in my name nor a land line phone. So I finally applied in Kolkata.
I had to pay an agent Rs. 5000 to get a new driving license within a month. The driving test was a sham. I was given a receipt, but the new laminated license was not issued for more than 2 months after I got the receipt. The agent had to pay another Rs.500 to get me the laminated license.
