Passport Verification - bribe is the norm of the day

Without a bribe in India (especially Tamilnadu) , it is virtually impossible to get an approval from police department for passport verification. I was forced to pay bribe at Kumbakonam East Police Station (located near Little Flower Higher secondary school and ********** & ********** petrol bunk) to get my passport verified. The police officer there, demanded Rs.300 to verify my information supplied for passport.
