I had applied for a new passport for my wife with all relavent documents in place. Police asked me to get the neighbours details and signature on the forms + asked for getting the forms xeroxed 3 copies for their use. They asked for multiple address and identity proof inspite of Voter ID & adhar card. They wanted Bank passbook xerox as well.
Post that I had to pay Rs 200 for them to complete the said verification and send details to passport office .
This happened on 10th Oct @ Subramanya Nagar police station.
I ahve heard that without bride the passport verification does not move at all here from my friends and Bribe ranges from Rs 200 to Rs 1000 . Even Sr citizen or ladies are not spared from this.
