I approached a solicitor on MG Road,for a property will to be registered at the Nagwara Su-registrar's office. I had only 3 days to spare. The SOlicitor told me that since I work abroad the charges will be higher. The bribes to be paid to the Sub-registrars office are higher for NRIs. Nearly 4 times the normal charges. I was charged 20,000 rupees, when the actual cost wouldn't have been more than 3,000/= as I found out later. Of course I was promised a katha extract and an encumbrance certificate, which I hope I will receive soon.
