Right U TURN

Reported on November 26, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #29714

I do not remember the exact ********** but that night it was raining.
The Madivala road had just been opened after DAYS of work.
Somehow (and I do not know how) the dividers on the road were open in parts of the road (Till in the morning they were not open). Since it was a big opening and there was no sign of NO U-TURN anywhere, people were taking U-TURNS to go BTM layout. NOT SURPRISINGLY, policemen were standing on the other side and catching all of us. I got caught too. When I asked where was the NO U-TURN sign the policeman said that there was a tree on the other side of the road and the its written behind that. Again, I was not able to locate that tree or that sign from where we were. So I told him that I did not come by the side where there was a sign. He did not care and asked me to shell out 200 bucks. I told him that I had only 100 bucks with me and that he should give me a reciept. He told that if you want a reciept you have to shell out 500 bucks and wait for two hours. How who in their right mind would wait for 2 hours and shell out 500 bucks for a reciept. Hence we just gave him 100 bucks and left off.
The other day I saw that the openings were closed again. I then realized that maybe the police themselves opened it up to extort money from innocent people.
I would have to say that the number of experiences till now I have got in India (I have also stayed in US and UK for years), just depicts that its the most corrupt country in the world.

What's your reaction?
