Passports act as proof of Indian nationality. They are useful in providing address and identification proof for many other documents and certificates. If you have plans of studying abroad and appearing for GRE exam, holding a valid Passport is a must.

Pre – Process requirements:

  • First get the passport application form. You can download the form online or get it from post offices and respective passport offices. It is advisable to get the application form online to avoid long waiting hours.
  • Fill the passport form carefully. Follow the instructions given in the form carefully as the form is screened by machine.
  • An appointment needs to be sought from the passport office for the submission of the form to avoid waiting.
  • Visit the Passport Seva Kendra and get the token. Submit the token along with the application form and self-attested copies of all the required documents along with the original documents.
  • Following this, you will be given the acknowledgement receipt.
  • After 3-4 working days, you will be summoned for a Police Certification verification. Here you have to be present in person at the police station. Two individuals are needed to testify and bear evidence as a mark of your identification at the time of verification. Once this is done your application will be sent forward to the passport office to complete the remaining processes.
