New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS) The AAP Thursday demanded the removal of CBI director Ranjit Sinha, after the Supreme Court asked an NGO to file an affidavit over Sinha allegedly meeting, at his residence, people being investigated by the agency.

The Aam Aadmi Party also said the central government can no longer remain silent over the issue of such seriousness.

"The Aam Aadmi Party demands that the centre, which has access to all the records pertaining to visitors' diaries of the official residence of the CBI director, should immediately order a probe into the matter and remove Mr. Sinha from his post, till the inquiry is completed," the AAP said in a statement.

"It is shameful that the CBI director was meeting the accused named in multiple corruption scams running into lakhs of crores," it added.

The Supreme Court Thursday asked NGO CPIL to file an affidavit in support of its documents that alleged that the CBI director met people being investigated and prosecuted by the agency in 2G and other cases at his residence over a period of time.
