Barcelona conduct medical tests before start of pre-season

Barcelona, July 11 (IANS) Fifteen Barcelona players, none of them present at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, on Wednesday underwent medical tests a day before the start of the pre-season.

The players, as noted by Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde, included Sergi Roberto, Rafinha Alcantara, Jasper Cillessen, Munir El-Haddadi, Sergi Samper, Douglas Pereira, Marlon Santos, Nelson Semedo, Denis Suarez, Paco Alcacer, Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, Aleix Vidal, Adria Ortola and Carles Aleña, the latter still recovering from an injury, reports Efe.

All of them underwent the usual analytical tests, as well as different physical and medical tests, including cardiac ultrasounds and stress tests, among others.

Valverde called all of the team to the first training session of the pre-season following the medicals.

In the coming days, the rest of the Barcelona players who participated in the World Cup with their respective national teams were expected to join pre-season training.
