Golfer Gangjee jumps to tied 10th, Chawrasia joint 25th

Manila, Nov 20 (IANS) A closing eagle helped Indian golfer Rahil Gangjee fire a six-under 66 and jump 44 places to be tied 10th, while S.S.P. Chawrasia was joint 25th following a 70 in the second round of the $1 million Resorts World Manila Masters here on Friday.

Gangjee, who scored 72 in the first round, took his total to six-under 138 -- four shots behind co-leaders Hung Chien-yao (67) and Lee Chieh-po (66) of Chinese Taipei and Jbe Kruger (65) of South Africa at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club.

Gangjee scored birdies on the sixth, seventh, 10th, 14th, 15th holes alongwith an eagle on the par-five 18th against a bogey on the 17th for a 66.

Chawrasia scored a second 70 to move to the two-day total of four-under 140, while S. Chikka hit a 67 that took him to 141 total and gave him a share of 37th position.

Shiv Kapur (69), Jyoti Randhawa (74) and Shubhankar Sharma (68) shared the 45th spot on 142 total. Randhawa, the former Asian Tour champion, was tied fourth with a 68 on Thursday but struggled in the second round.

Chiragh Kumar scored 70 to be tied 63rd on even-par 144 total, one stroke behind him was Khalin Joshi, who scored 72.

Gaganjeet Bhullar was tied 77th after scoring 71 for a 146 total. Jeev Milkha Singh (74) and Kapil Kumar (78) shared the 97th spot on 149.

One stroke behind the duo was Himmat Rai, who scored 73, while Manav Jaini and Rashid Khan decided not to continue.
