Bhubaneswar, Dec 1 (IANS) The winter session of the Odisha assembly began on Tuesday on a stormy note, with opposition parties creating a ruckus as they sought a discussion on farmer suicides.

Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the house till 3 p.m.

As soon as the question hour began, opposition leader Narasingh Mishra urged the speaker to allow a discussion on a motion given by him on farmers' suicides by cancelling the question hour and other businesses.

The speaker did not agree, stating he had received the written motion and was examining it.

Peeved over this, Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party members rushed towards him raising anti-government slogans.

Ruling Biju Janata Dal members immediately stood up and protested against the opposition, creating more din.
