1000 /- will give u a domicile certificate for 1 year even u have actually stayed in a place for just 4 months.
Recently, in a process of applying passport i had to furnish my wife's current residential address proof and as she had moved to Bangalore just 4 months before we did not have any. So we were asked to get a domicile certificate from the tahsildar and eventually we went to the tahsildar office located on kempegowda road. We learnt from their public grivience cell (PGC) that they will not issue domicile certificate for 4 months and the minimum period is 1 year. As soon as we stepped out , i met a gentleman(!) who said that he is an employee of Tahsildar office and will help me in getting the same document had i paid him 1000 Rs. I was taken up with a surprise and out of curiosity asked him how can you get the certificate when the person in the PGC refused to do so. and the catch was he can give it for 1 year when i have been actually staying there for just 4 months.
I refused to do so realizing that i would not like to take a slightest chance of getting rejected from passport office guys if they doubt on me for faking this document.
Now i realize how easy is to get a domicile certificate if u r really not bothered of the after effects (If any)!
